Production Supervisor
Production Supervisor, £20,000 - £22,000, Portsmouth
Principal Accountabilities for:
Supporting the Production Director on the introduction of productivity improvements throughout the business unit and the daily management of Hycatrol, Hycalite & Happ/otto production facility to ensure agreed budget performance measures are achieved or bettered ie turnover, PLP, department costs etc.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure all production staff are utilised in accordance with agreed budgetary figures with the Production Director
To communicate to Section Leaders, Team Leaders and Operators required monthly manufacturing schedule via a day by the hour build schedule.
To ensure all consumable materials necessary to support the manufacturing build schedule are provisioned for either directly or through the purchasing department.
To identify reasons for any shortfall against the manufacturing build schedule.
To compile a register of all machinery and hand tools and to ensure that all such equipment is of a suitable standard and condition to support the manufacturing build schedule, ensuring calibrated/serviced equipment and hand tools are within certification dates. All such equipment will be monitored on a regular basis (a maximum of one month).
To identify any problems in the manufacturing process and sign off all new products that are introduced into the manufacturing area at the production readiness review to the manufacturing area.
To immediately identify to the Production Director any reasons for shortfall against the agreed monthly targets.
To submit to the Production Director two days prior to business units monthly report, details of the relevant manufacturing units performance. Details of information required will be advised by the Production Director
As and when required by the Production Director attend internal and external meetings to support the business unit.
To ensure that all staff are suitably trained to carry out their daily duties both supervision and direct reports and to update skills matrix.
To ensure the day to day management of shop floor personnel in accordance with the Company procedures.
As and when required council and or carry out disciplinary action in line with Company policy for the production staff within the business unit.
To ensure that safe methods of work and safe working conditions exist within the department.
To ensure that up-to-date written Risk Assessments exist for all potentially hazardous activities undertaken within the department.
To notify the Production Director of any matters of a health, safety and environmental nature which are of concern.
Ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation and requirements of the companies environmental management system.
Experience:
Strong Engineering/Manufacturing experience essential.
Previous experience of working within a supervision role is desirable.
Personal Characteristics:
To have a strong character and show good leadership qualities.
To be a good communicator both with direct reports and to senior management.
To be self-motivated and proactive in order to support the requirements of the manufacturing unit.
Critical Information:
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Must be capable of handling difficult situations and working well under pressure.
